EMERGENCY PLAN

The first steps to becoming prepared for an emergency is to have a plan. A plan includes aspects like where your family will meet in the case of an emergency. Other aspects include where important documents are kept and what responsibilities each family member has in an emergency. The plan also incorporates overall safety training and information that every family member should have. Making a plan gives direction and a sense of security when disasters strike.

72 HR KIT

A 72 hour kit is a container or pack with everything your family needs to survive for 72 hours in the case of an emergency such as a blizzard, earthquake, tornado, or other type of natural disaster. The kit should have everything from food and water to a first aid kit. We recommend keeping the kit together in a backpack, or some type of easily transportable container

FOOD STORAGE

As a college student it may be difficult to purchase a two year supply of food in case of an emergency. The church suggests starting small. Begin by purchasing a few extra items each week to increase from a one week supply to a two week supply. Continue to do so until you have reached your goal of a full two year supply. Be sure to rotate through these items regularly so they don't expire.

OTHER NEEDS

Food and water are not the only needs to sustain a family for two years. Many other needs exist as well. Here are some links to help you prepare for the other needs your family may have in case of an emergency.
