IN AN EMERGENCY

Basic Skills
In the event of an emergency so many of the luxuries we have in life may be unavailable to us. It is at this time that certain basic skills are needed for survival. Some of these skills include orienteering, and knowing how to use a GPS.

Communication
Communication is critical in an emergency and can be limited. Cell phone towers have backup generators that can supply power to the towers for a few days so it may be a good idea to have backup batteries for your cellphones. Phone lines still work in power outages as well and may be a good idea to have a land-line phone also. For receiving information about an emergency a portable radio with extra batteries is useful. If available one of the most reliable means of communication is a CB radio.
Interface With BYU-IDAHO
